The Resource Program serves students who have an identified disability impacting their school achievement and/or performance. This identification may include a Learning Disability, a Hearing Impairment, Multiple Disabilities or "Other" types of disability. The identification process occurs through the Committee on Special Education, and includes a variety of assessments, review of records, student observation, and discussion with teachers and parents.
The CSE creates the student's Individualized Education Plan (the IEP) which contains the following:
Classification
Program/Services
Class Accommodations
Testing Accommodations
Assistive Technology
Annual Goals
Transition Plan
The IEP is a legal and confidential document which contains personal student information. It also lists the required accommodations and modifications that must be made in the general education setting for that child. Each IEP is written for the current school year, and revised as needed once a year during the Annual Review (or more frequently if necessary). Every three years, a Triennial Review (Re-evaluation) is held to more closely examine the student's needs and achievements, and make appropriate recommendations.
If you have any questions concerning your student's IEP, you may either e-mail me at [email protected] or call the CSE Chairperson at 684-3639.
